Suspect arrested in fatal motorcycle hit and run

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Police have made an arrest in a fatal hit and run accident.

Jacob O'Reilly, 24, is accused of hitting and killing Scott Moseley July 26 on Gravel Springs Road at Camp Branch Road near Buford. Investigators believe Moseley, 24, was thrown from his motorcycle after running into a raised median. O'Reilly then struck Moseley as he was lying in the road.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Deon Washington said investigators conducted a road check Sunday at the accident scene. They also scoped out nearby businesses, neighborhoods and apartment complexes, and eventually found O'Reilly's car parked at the Mall of Georgia.

Police impounded the car, then visited O'Reilly at his home in Auburn. O'Reilly was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle, hit and run, and failure to yield.

Moseley's family released a statement shortly after O'Reilly's arrest:

We appreciate the diligence and professionalism of the Gwinnett County Police Department which led to the arrest of the hit and run driver who killed our son.

This tragic accident is heartbreaking for both families. Please pray for all of us.
