(WXIA) -- Six young men from Georgia will become Clemson Tigers in the fall.

The students committed to the South Carolina university Wednesday during National Signing Day festivities.

AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt design contest open

ATLANTA -- Calling all artists: the AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt design contest is now accepting entries.

Designers have until Friday, Feb. 28 to submit their works of art. All entries will be whittled down to five finalists, which will be unveiled on ajc.com/peachtree on Saturday, Mar. 15.

No one will see the winning design until race day, when it will adorn tens of thousands of finishers' T-shirts.

"The AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt design contest is a great way to showcase the work of our local artists, and we are always impressed with the entries we receive," Atlanta Track Club interim executive director Sue Payne said in a statement.

Whoever wins the contest receives $1,000, while each of the four finalists gets $100.

Race to honor Georgia's fallen heroes

BUFORD, Ga. -- An upcoming 5K/10K will pay homage to Georgia's soldiers who died in the line of duty.

The Fallen Heroes of Georgia 5K/10K will be held Saturday, Mar. 15 at Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Both races are AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifiers.

Registration for the 5K is $25 through Mar. 1, $30 through Mar. 9 and $35 on race day. The 10K costs $30 through Mar. 1, $35 through Mar. 9 and $40 on race day.

Proceeds from both races benefit Run for the Fallen and other charities created in memory of fallen Georgia soldiers.

ATLANTA -- Don't be alarmed if you see a whole bunch of people running down Georgia 400 this weekend.

The Pay the Last Toll road race will be held Sunday, Nov. 17 at 8:30 a.m., and gives athletes one last opportunity to see the infamous toll booths before they are demolished.

Runners will begin at the Glenridge Connector in Sandy Springs and run south to Phipps Plaza. When they reach the toll booths, they will throw in their final 50 cents. All proceeds will go to charity.

Northbound lanes of Ga. 400 will be closed for the race from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.

Georgia Department of Transportation crews will also spend part of the weekend tearing down a MARTA pedestrian bridge on southbound Ga. 400.

BUFORD, Ga. -- Help raise money for breast cancer research by running a 5K in Buford.

The Great Gwinnett Road Run will be held Sunday, Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. at the Mall of Georgia. The entire race course is on mall property; it begins near P.F. Chang's and ends in front of the food court.

Registration is $28 until Oct. 1 and $30 after. It includes a long-sleeved T-shirt and admission to a post-race breakfast.

Proceeds from the race, nicknamed Paint the Mall Pink, will benefit the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition Fund.

Ruckus obstacle race coming to Lake Lanier

BUFORD, Ga. -- A family-friendly obstacle race is coming to Lake Lanier Islands Resort later this year.

Ruckus Atlanta includes a 5K for adults and a mini race for kids. It is safe and fun for runners of all ages.

The cost is $65 for grownups and $20 for kids under 14. Finishers will receive T-shirts, refreshments and admission to a post-race expo.

It costs $10 to be a spectator.

BUFORD, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons will hold a cookout and day of family-friendly fun at the Mall of Georgia this weekend.

The 2013 Grill with the Falcons Built by The Home Depot will be held Saturday, June 15. The event begins at 11 a.m. with food, games, prizes, live music and appearances by Falcons coach Mike Smith, players, alumni, cheerleaders and even Freddie the Falcon.

At 5 p.m., the fun will move to the mall's Village Amphitheater for more activities, including a screening of the movie Parental Guidance.
