Author Stuart Woods to hold book signing in Gwinnett

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- New York Times bestselling author Stuart Woods will hold a talk and book signing in Gwinnett County next month.

Woods, a Georgia native and University of Georgia graduate, has published more than 30 books. His latest novel is Hot Pursuit.

He will visit the Hamilton Mill Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library on Friday, Apr. 10 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Copies of his books will be available for purchase courtesy of Eagle Eye Book Shop.

BUFORD, Ga. -- Buford resident Heath Bowman, owner of Southeastern Underdeck Systems, has been elected to the 2014-15 board of directors of the North American Deck and Railing Association. NADRA members are allied to the deck and railing industry. The association emphasizes safe building practices and deck safety.

Bowman also is a member of the Greenville, Chattanooga and Atlanta Chapters of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the National Association of Home Builders. He credits much of the success of Southeastern Underdeck Systems to hard work and relationships he has developed through his professional memberships in NADRA, NARI and the NAHB.

New principals named to 2 Gwinnett high schools

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Public Schools has named new leaders at two of its high schools.

Kerensa Wing is the latest principal of Collins Hill High School. She comes to Collins Hill from Lanier High School, where she was also principal. She replaces outgoing principal Glenn McFall, who retired last month.

Wing began her career in Gwinnett County in 1990 as a teacher at Shiloh High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Oglethorpe University, a master's degree in social studies from Georgia State University and a specialist's degree in educational leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.

Dana Pugh has been named principal of Grayson High School. He will move to Grayson from Bay Creek Middle School as soon as current principal David Hopson retires at the end of January.

BUFORD, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons will hold a cookout and day of family-friendly fun at the Mall of Georgia this weekend.

The 2013 Grill with the Falcons Built by The Home Depot will be held Saturday, June 15. The event begins at 11 a.m. with food, games, prizes, live music and appearances by Falcons coach Mike Smith, players, alumni, cheerleaders and even Freddie the Falcon.

At 5 p.m., the fun will move to the mall's Village Amphitheater for more activities, including a screening of the movie Parental Guidance.
