News

BUFORD, Ga. -- The father of the baby found unresponsive and not breathing at a daycare posted that the young child had an MRI on Thursday and said some of the tubes that were placed to relieve bleeding had been removed.

Ashton Williams stopped breathing at Discovery Point Daycare on Hamilton Mill Parkway on Monday and was found to have severe brain injury that included swelling and bleeding.

His dad, Hurchel Williams, has provided daily updates on Facebook.

On Thursday, in an exclusive interview with 11Alive, the attorney for Discovery Point Daycare said staff did everything they could for the baby when he became unresponsive.

“We are all cooperating fully,” attorney Matt Moffett said. “As you know, police and DFCS are investigating. I recommend you talk to the parents about the DFCS investigation.”

Just how and when Ashton got the brain injury is still a mystery tonight.

Friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for Ashton’s medical expenses.

His dad indicated on Facebook his son’s recovery might take months.
