BUFORD, Ga. -- An off-duty Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy saved a woman from a burning home in Gwinnett County on Sunday.

The fire broke out on Westbrook Street in Buford, Ga. around 5 p.m.

Four people were inside the home when the blaze started and three of them were able to get out safely.

But a woman was trapped inside as the flames began to spread.

That's when the deputy grabbed a ladder and got the woman out.

Fire crews arrived and were able to knock down the fire but the home is a total loss.

The American Red Cross is now helping the four occupants.
