Coke partners with Firehouse Subs for national contest

ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola and Firehouse Subs are partnering for a national sweepstakes centered on stock car racing.

Coca-Cola is sponsoring the Coca-Cola Photo Finish sweepstakes at Firehouse Subs locations through Apr. 21.

During the contest, life-size cutouts of participating Coca-Cola Racing Family members will be placed in FIrehouse Subs locations. Firehouse Subs guests can snap a photo with the cutout and submit it to win. Guests can submit photos via text to cocacolaphotofinish.com, or entries can be mailed.

Participating drivers include Joey Logano, representing the Georgia and Gulf region; Greg Biffle, representing the West and Central region; Danica Patrick, representing the Florida region; Denny Hamlin, representing the South region; and Tony Stewart, representing the Mid-Atlantic region.

Bunny photo experience to delight families at Easter

ATLANTA  – After a year of successful builds, memorable events and new adventures, LEGOLAND Discovery Center is ready to celebrate its first birthday with an all-out LEGO-filled bash! The attraction is doing it big with a whole week devoted to the celebration, March 16-23. Area LEGO lovers are invited to join LEGOLAND Discovery Center for a week of themed builds, giveaways, mini birthday activities, crafts and fun visits with the attraction’s mascot, Bertie.

“We are all so thankful for and overwhelmed by the support the community has shown LEGOLAND Discovery Center during our first year in Atlanta, “said General Manager Penda Meftah.  “After a fun first year, we’re thrilled to continue the momentum with our birthday week festivities. We hope all of our friends come celebrate with us!”

Chick-fil-A Daddy-Daughter Date Night returns in 2013

ATLANTA -- Chick-fil-A's wildly popular Daddy-Daughter Date Night will return in February.

More than 100 Atlanta- and Athens-area Chick-fil-A restaurants will host the event on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Every couple in attendance will receive an activity sheet with conversation topics and a booklet called "Continuing the Conversation," which gives the dads and daughters suggestions for getting to know each other better.

"One of Chick-fil-A's goals is to promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone we serve," Chick-fil-A area marketing director Robin Lomax said in a statement. "We understand the importance of father-daughter relationships and want to encourage dads to take a break from busy schedules, enjoy their daughters' company over a meal and have fun."

Sugar Hill City Hall to open Sunday

SUGAR HILL, Ga. -- The city of Sugar Hill has planned a ribbon cutting for its brand new 33,000-square foot City Hall.

The celebration will be held Jan. 13 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Several dignitaries are expected to attend the ribbon cutting, according to Sugar Hill community relations director Don Kelemen.

The new Sugar Hill City Hall includes an amenity pond and an amphitheater that will host concerts and a movie series during warm months.

City Hall is located at 5039 West Broad Street.

AKA holding peace rally for middle school students

ATLANTA -- Members of metro Atlanta's chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will hold a peace rally and workshop for middle school students over the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Ivy Community Center in southwest Atlanta. It is part of the 40 Days of Peace project, which aims to spread service and kindness through the country.

The peace rally and workshop will aim to teach young people about Dr. King's mission, and to raise awareness of crime and crime prevention strategies. Law enforcement members will also give an interactive presentation to encourage children to stamp out gangs and bullying.

Middle school students from several metro Atlanta counties -- Cobb, Cherokee, Clayton, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale -- are expected to participate.

Phillip Phillips to perform at Mall of Ga.

Phillip Phillips to perform at Mall of Ga.

BUFORD, Ga. -- Phillip Phillips will return to his home state of Georgia this week to give a free concert at the Mall of Georgia.

Phillips, who won Season 11 of "American Idol," will perform at the Buford mall's Village Amphitheatre from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Immediately after the show, Phillips will sign copies of his debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon.

Mall visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to hear Phillips perform.

Phillip Phillips' hit single "Home" was the theme song of the U.S. women's gymnastics team at the 2012 London Olympics.
