Easter Bunny makes appearance at Gwinnett Place Mall

BUFORD, Ga. – Families from all over Gwinnett County are invited to celebrate the Easter season on Saturday, April 16 with a special fair and Bunny Hop with the Easter Bunny at Gwinnett Place Mall.

This Bunny Hop is an RSVP only event, so be sure to RSVP by calling (770) 813-6840 and asking for Patti or Shelly. Children in attendance will be able to enjoy Easter-themed activities and a special visit from the Easter Bunny.

For members of the Simon Kidgits Club, admission to this event will be $7; parents will be charged $1.

 The Easter Bunny will be at Gwinnett Place taking photos with children daily through April 23. Package prices start $19.99. For hours, visit www.simon.com.

Gwinnett Braves and American Cancer Society to hold 5K

Gwinnett Braves and American Cancer Society to hold 5K

BUFORD, Ga. -- On May 14, the Gwinnett Braves will team up with the American Cancer Society for their Family Fun Run 5K. The run will be held at Coolray Field and begins at 8AM.

At the same event, there will be a one-mile run that starts at 8:10AM. According to Bill Manson, the Area Executive Director for the American Cancer Society, “This is a great opportunity for Gwinnett County families to come out and have fun while raising awareness and funds for a great cause – fighting cancer".

Registration for the race, the day of, will begin at 7AM. The cost to participate is $30 per runner, with a discount to $20 a runner for running clubs. Also, the entire family can participate with just one $30 registration fee. The course begins in the parking lot of Gwinnett Braves field and finishes on the Coolray Field playing surface. 

All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Gwinnett County to demonstrate swiftwater rescue at Buford Dam Park

BUFORD, Ga. – On April 11, the Gwinnett Fire Department's Swiftwater Rescue Team will be holding a non-motorized training exercise that will teach swimmers how to use bags and live bait to rescue a drowning swimmer.

The drills will be held on the Chattahoochee River at the lower pool at Buford Dam Park and the dam is scheduled to release water around 1:55 p.m.

The Corps will be demonstrating rescue attempts until around 3:00 p.m.

ATLANTA – In effort to revive their customer base, Walmart is “re-invigorating” their price leadership promise.

According to Walter Woods of Cohn and Wolfe, “Walmart is putting the customer at the center of everything and taking specific steps to deliver one-stop shopping to its customers.”

Walmart is increasing their competitive checks to offer lower prices on many items. They’re also partnering with different suppliers to lower the cost per item on many of their items.

In additon to those changes, the company is bringing back its “Ad Match” policy, making it easier for customers to actually see their savings.

THOR is about powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war.

This competition is open to anyone over 13.

New head ready for his first Gwinnett Relay for Life

DULUTH — If you wish to participate in the May 6 Gwinnett Relay for Life, there's on tidbit you should know. The race has a new coordiator, Bill Manson, is ready for his first Gwinnett County Relay for Life.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – (submitted by GEHC) Join your friends and neighbors as we celebrate "Earth Day Around the World" at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center (GEHC) on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.

Visitors will enjoy a wide range of activities, including games, guided nature hikes, crafts, solar t-shirt screening, face painting, and much more.

In addition, special programming will allow you to dissect an owl pellet, meet a real life Great Horned Owl and discover the types of wildlife you can find in your own backyard. Whole Foods Market from Duluth/John’s Creek will provide organic food cooking demonstrations.
