ATLANTA – Mary Restauri of Buford is all smiles, especially since winning $500,000 following an office visit to the dentist. Restauri, 54, won her top prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks.

“The dentist’s office called and said I needed to pick up a delivery before closing,” she said. “So, I left to go to the dentist.”

Afterward, Restauri stopped at S Tobacco Shack, 4450 Nelson Brogdon Blvd N.E. in Sugar Hill, where she purchased the ticket. The lucky lottery winner scratched her ticket in the store’s parking lot and raced back in to verify her winnings.

“I looked at the clerk, and he gave me a high five and a hug,” she said. “I started jumping around, making a fool of myself.”

Restauri works as a merchandizing representative. She and her husband, Art, have a 21-year-old daughter.

“We’re going to sit back, strategize and figure out our course of action,” she shared.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
