EXCLUSIVE: Daycare attorney says proper procedures followed after baby found not breathing

BUFORD, Ga. -- The father of the baby found unresponsive and not breathing at a daycare posted that the young child had an MRI on Thursday and said some of the tubes that were placed to relieve bleeding had been removed.

Soldier from Ga. killed in Afghanistan

BAGRAM, Afghanistan -- A U.S. Army soldier from Buford, Ga. was killed in a non-combat incident on Monday in Bagram, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense has confirmed.

Army Spc. Kyle E. Gilbert, 24, was in Afghanistan supporting Operation Freedom Sentinel. 

The incident is under investigation. A relative told 11Alive that they are still unaware of what happened to Gilbert.

Gilbert was a member of the  2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. He was a graduate of Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Ga., a family member told 11Alive. 

Gilbert's body is in Germany and is scheduled to be flown to Dover, Delaware on Wednesday. He has a brother in the Air Force, a relative said.

Breastfeeding mom kicked out of locker room


BUFORD, Ga. -- A letter promising change was sent to a Georgia mom after she was kicked out of a locker room after trying to breastfeed. 

Man shot during party at Lake Lanier Islands

BUFORD, Ga. -- A 23-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot during a weekend birthday party at Lake Lanier Islands.

The shooting happened at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday at one of the park's lake houses, which a group of friends rented for the party.

Responding officers found Union City resident Malik Davis with a gunshot wound to his chest. Davis was rushed into emergency surgery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes said the shooting began with a fight. Three men arrived at the party uninvited and started arguing with attendees. The dispute turned physical, and Davis was shot while trying to break up the fight.

Police are working to identify the three suspects, who ran from the house after the shooting. Witnesses described them as black men.

Police serve search warrant in case of missing dad


UPDATE:  Thursday afternoon, Lawrenceville Police Capt. Jeff Smith told 11Alive News "there were some items of interest that we took from the property, back to our department for further analysis."  The items of interest, he said, included the burned contents of a barrel that might figure into the search for clues into Waters' disappearance.  As for any connection between Waters and the owners of the property where the search for clues took place, Smith would say only, "I'm not sure how or if they knew the missing person.  The investigation led us to that residence."

Suspect arrested in fatal motorcycle hit and run

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Police have made an arrest in a fatal hit and run accident.

Jacob O'Reilly, 24, is accused of hitting and killing Scott Moseley July 26 on Gravel Springs Road at Camp Branch Road near Buford. Investigators believe Moseley, 24, was thrown from his motorcycle after running into a raised median. O'Reilly then struck Moseley as he was lying in the road.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Deon Washington said investigators conducted a road check Sunday at the accident scene. They also scoped out nearby businesses, neighborhoods and apartment complexes, and eventually found O'Reilly's car parked at the Mall of Georgia.

Motorcyclist killed in Gwinnett hit and run accident

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a 24-year-old motorcyclist over the weekend.

The accident happened Sunday at around 12:45 a.m., at Gravel Springs and Camp Branch roads near Buford. First responders found the victim, Scott Moseley, lying in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators determined Moseley tried to turn left from Camp Branch Road onto Gravel Springs Road. He likely struck a raised median and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Police believe a vehicle then ran over Moseley as he was lying in the road, killing him. The vehicle's driver did not stop or call 911.

Police described the vehicle as a dark-colored 1990-93 Honda Accord. They say it will have damage to the right front side.
